This company project begins with Kiko Kostadinov briefed with the theme of uniforms. Due to the company collaboration I first began researching into the brands identity and understanding their way of construction,  I was mainly inspired by their use of panelling and cut lines found throughout multiple collections. From here I specify my uniform garment research into the research of men’s motocross uniform specifically worn during the 1970s. The garments at this time were heavily constructed with layers of specialized materials adapted for the sport; integrated knee pads, elbow pads, pockets to hold further support panels, durable leather material with full coverage. The uniforms were highly personalized with bold colours, cut lines and branded with patches and prints often representing the rider. In contrast, I was additionally inspired by the garments the women spectators wore, which were often casual but  revealing, such as tees, tank tops, mini shorts, and skirts. Using the jersey construction and cover stitch from the tank top element I create my final garments. First, a motocross tank with panelling of two contrasted fabrics provided by Kiko, personal branding prints such as personal nicknames, dates and places created first with a black sublimation print and afterwards over layered with a slightly off placed reflective vinyl print. As well a zip and neck closure, red piping between the seams and double layered mesh lining using a dense red lining and a less dense grey mesh overlayed inspired by the motocross jacket. Furthermore, the pants take inspiration from a sourced motocross archetype, enlarging the silhouette to resemble the 1970s baggier silhouette with padding in the knees, hips, thighs and lower back. Additionally maintaining the same cut lines from the original but contrasting each section with two different fabrics. The pants also utilize the personalized patch work also using sublimation and vinyl print of my personalized logo along the sides and the back of the pants, and at the bottom of the leg next to the ziper opening.
